D’Allepo White Heart

This Anklet is crafted with Beautiful Antique Ruby White Heart glass Beads, with a delicious color of Red ruby Dark Rose exterior and a white core. 
In the center is a faceted handmade 14k gold Bead, connected on a red silk cord to add a soft touch and finished with a 14k gold spring clasp.
 
 
These stunning white hearts are quite difficult to find nowadays & are also known as Cornaline d'Allepo; which means “Allepo Agate”. They have been sold throughout the world since the 15th century & are called white hearts as the core is made of white glass which is then wrapped with red glass. Until modern times, the only way to make glass red was to infuse the glass with gold. To increase opacity, red glass was wound around the white core.The Anklet measure 23 cm and the white heart & The 14k gold beads is approximately 3,5 x 2,5 mm. The 14k gold clasp 6mm.
 
The country of origin is Unknown & the beads are old, guess production generation: 19-20 centuries. The style was invented around 1480 & The Red White Hearts (and all red glass) is made by using actual gold.The French beads that were traded into Africa & date back as far as the 1500’s. The Venetian White Heart beads, were made between the late 1800’s and early 1920’s in Italy. ) The style was invented around 1480.
 
Please note this jewellery piece are crafted with Silk cord that offers a beautiful soft touch, but like any fabric, the silk cord jewellery will wear over time with extended use.
